Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is not fully compliant with the accessibility regulations that apply to us. In detail:

Incompatibility with accessibility legislation

The contents listed below are not compatible with the relevant legal regulations on accessibility:

Some of the PDF or Word documents on the website are not fully accessible.

External specialist application for dormitory applications and damage reports
An external specialist application from a third-party provider is integrated on our website via iFrame, via which

  • the application for places in halls of residence and
  • the damage report in residential homes
    can be processed.

This application is operated by an external provider that is not under the responsibility of the Studierendenwerk Saarland.
As things stand, the application does not fully meet the accessibility requirements.

As the Studierendenwerk Saarland has no influence on the technical implementation of this external system, we are currently unable to offer an accessible alternative to this specialist application. However,
users who have difficulties using it can contact us by e-mail or telephone for support:

We are in contact with the provider to work towards improving accessibility.

Disproportionate burden

The following content is not made available barrier-free because this would result in a disproportionate burden for us:

The Studierendenwerk does not currently have sufficient human and financial resources to make all existing documents accessible. In particular, there is a lack of trained staff and the necessary technical means to subsequently redesign these files to make them accessible to the extent of the entire website.

In accordance with Section 4 (3) BbgBITV, we invoke a disproportionate burden in these cases.

However, we are endeavoring to continuously expand accessible information and to make newly published documents accessible as far as possible in the future.

Evaluation method

The accessibility of this website was assessed in June 2025 using a self-test with the online tool accessibilitychecker.org.

During the review, all barriers identified by the tool were analyzed and subsequently eliminated. The declaration is based on this self-assessment.

Further measures to improve barrier-free access to our website

We are constantly striving to improve the accessibility of our website. We are currently doing the following:

An accessibility toolbar has been integrated to improve the usability of the website for people with disabilities. This offers a wide range of setting options such as increasing contrast, adjusting font size, improving readability and navigation with the keyboard.

The corresponding icon for opening the toolbar is located at the bottom right of the screen and is visible on all pages. The functionality is provided by the OneTap Accessibility tool.
